TEMA WEST REGION OFFICE

The West Tennessee Region for TEMA consists of the 21 counties west of the Tennessee River.  The communities involved range from the smallest unincorporated areas to the largest city in the state, Memphis.

The region consists primarily of flatlands, with little or no hills to speak of, and includes the vast floodplain areas associated with the Mississippi River.  The major hazards faced by the communities in the West Region are:

1.      Earthquakes (The New Madrid Seismic Zone)

2.      Flooding

3.      Hazardous Materials

4.      Severe Weather
