STATE OF TENNESSEE PETROLEUM CONTINGENCY PLAN

The state of Tennessee, through the Energy Division of the Department of Economic and Community Development (ECD), maintains a Petroleum Emergency Plan.  State law makes this division responsible for the development and coordination of a state capability to address a petroleum crisis such as that which occurred during the fuel shortages in the mid-1970s.

The plan is developed by ECD, in close coordination with TEMA, the Department of Safety and other state agencies, and can be implemented when fuel shortages reach a point where they become problematic.
